The introduction of computers has proved to be a great addition of technology to the modern world. Not only did it allow fast calculations – the original purpose for which the microprocessor machines were built for- and a large storage space – to eliminate the requirement of huge rooms to maintain the paper work but also opened a vast variety of jobs. There came vacancies for computer operators, people who could type fast, and people who were quick enough to learn the computer with its rapidly changing operating systems.

The addition of internet has inarguably been one of the most revolutionary changes of the era and with it opened up an even wider range of employment. This included web designers, web developers, graphics designer, web programmers etc. Universities and institutes began to offer courses for web developer which included teaching all the skills of a Web Developer and became better with time.

As interest in web development grew in the youth, institutes that specialized in computer teachings added a new department of web engineering. Web engineering offered a complete package for the web developers, designers and graphics designer and aimed to ensure that the students were fully skilled in the particular area. The course started by introducing computer fundamentals and then kept a focus on all the computer languages that were to be used by the Web Developer. In the beginning most of the web programming or web development was done through HTML. The language was simple to understand and learn. With the course of time, the user’s demanded a more interactive session on the internet pages. This led to the modification of the web development languages, in that , they came with characteristics of adding additional features , fonts , colors and graphics to the web page. Moreover, as the functionality of the languages became complex, they were put under two categories: Server side language and Client side language. This in return added to the course contents and called for more learning effort and hard work from the web developer.

It can be said without doubt that the endeavors of web developers have paid off and the web has improved aesthetics and look out, has become a great place for gaining knowledge through text, audios or colorful videos and most importantly it has become user friendly.
